Shingirai Taodzera

Interim Director (Former) and Research Fellow

Shingirai is a political economist and international development specialist. His work is on the intersection of extractive natural resource economies and configurations of political power, good governance, and human rights, with special focus on East and Southern Africa. He holds a PhD in International Development from the University of Ottawa.

 As Associate Director in 2020-2021, he worked closely with the administration of the Freedom Project, served as faculty director of the Adam Smith Fellowship, director of the Wintersession 2020 Program and acted as an academic resource on his areas of research expertise. Shingirai's work has received generous financial support from several organizations, that include the Mellon Mays Fellowship, Social Sciences Research Council, Ontario Trillium Scholarship, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, and the Freedom Project.
